coffee and the blogging world

why is it that only northwesterns don't have a problem with being addicted to coffee? i've seen this trend of people from elsewhere saying they're trying to quit and that's being addicted to coffee is bad. i was actually lumped with a southerner on if someone else can quit coffee then so can me and this sounshine loving person. do they not understand that we had coffee as infants in our bottles, that we are not awake until coffee has entered our system and therefore can't be held accountable for anything we say (or don't say) and do (or don't do). it's our lifeblood. if i could hook it up to a iv drip and inject into my system then i would.

my coffee adiction is NOT equilant to anyone from outside of our BC, Washington, and Oregon tri-union.

before C'wray i was drinking 11 shots a day. at C'wray i was drinking atleast 6 giant cups of tea a day. now i'm down to 2 cups in the morning and a grande hazelnut latte. i think i'm doing pretty good.

I do think it's important to monitor one's coffee intake so as not to go WAAAAY overboard with it - and to be sure and supplement with lots of water so as not to be dehydrated by it, but, as you know since we talked about this, I totally agree with you. I have no desire to give up coffee. In fact, recently my morning cup of coffee has become my very favorite part of the day - and for NO other reason than the very act of drinking coffee. I love the moment when I can feel it enter my system and start to wake up my unfunctioning brain. At night sometimes I long for the morning so I can feel that rush again (I don't drink caffine at night ever because it keeps me awake). Coffee is actually a mild anti-depressant. I'm not kidding, so says my psycology prof... or maybe my dad - equally reliable source either way. I feel it make me happier every time I drink it. I love coffee. Being pregnant will be awful for the pure and simple reason of giving up coffee. :-(

Honestly, the largest downside to coffee is the bad breath and stained teeth. If you can brush your teeth, your in good shape.

hey there, i saw your blog on my girlfirend, Elizabeth's link. when my friend Jenna travled across Africa, she rode a bus from Nairobi to Moyale and observed the affects of excessive caffine:
"Mira[is] a narcotic herb/plant that people chew here. I hate it. Not only does it taste disgusting but it's like having a really REALLY bad caffeine high. You can't sleep; you over think and it turns your teeth green. HUGE amounts are sold here, especially in the small poor villages where people are bored and addicted." so i guess you can become addicted to heavy amounts of caffine, but it's unlikely with coffee, i think, because you have to drink so much of it, that it fills you up pretty good
